This is so good to hear. I’ve just started querying agents and all I hear/read is doom and gloom so this is very refreshing and I think touches on something I’m too afraid to say out loud. That’s why the world needs people like you, Kit!

I wanted two things from writing a book:

1. For my book to be in the window of my local indie bookshop, Cogito Books in Hexham

2. To speak at my local book festival.

I've got a photo of #1 and although I've been invited to speak at Alnwick Story Fest, Hexham Book Festival where you spoke (& we met), Kit, with Without Warning and Only Sometimes is still a dream to be fulfilled.

I have found myself pulled back again and again to this. I know what I want. But I have not named it. Not owned it out loud.... I have been too afraid. Until now.

I want to create an intricate and growing magical world to tell a single, immersive story across several years, with the depth and imaginative richness to become a phenomenon, like Harry Potter, like the Lord of the Rings, like His Dark Materials.

Want is too harsh a word, and reminds me of the Spice Girls, and I really don't want to be reminded of the Spice Girls.

What I'd like, is for the autobiofiction novel I hope to finish this.year, to be published. It's a big ask in and of itself. I'd like that story to reach an audience.

But worth asking anyway

Thank you for this, Kit.

That’s the thing isn’t it.

Admitting to ourselves what we really want. ………….

Daring to admit to ourselves what we really want.
